Definition: Total P/L

This is the golden number that traders ultimately care about (but that your brokerage platform doesn't show you).

Total P/L = Open P/L + Realized P/L

And this is calculated for each Leg and at the Position level. You most likely just care about this number at the Position level.

The beauty of this number is that it incorporates all activity in a Position, and market quotes, to show you where you stand with the Position in an all-encompassing way. It includes all rolls, adjustments, expirations, dividends, commissions/fees, etc.
